Scales and Maps

Finding the actual distance (in km) between two points on a map given the scale.

Gradient of Tangent

Finding the equation of the tangent to a parabola at a particular point. (The average gradient between two points is the vertical difference divided by the horizontal but I didn't say that when illustrating the moving line. I do make amends at the end of the video.)

Di-section Puzzle

This is a puzzle which transforms an equilateral triangle into a square.

The Jupiter Stand Features

The stand functions as a camera stand. What makes it unique is the reversible board at the base. This has an erasable whiteboard on the one side and a grid on the other. The top component holds the device in any position from horizontal to vertical.

Introducing the Jupiter Stand

The Jupiter Stand functions in a similar way to the outdated but very popular Over-Head Projector. Among the many benefits offered by this device is the fact that videos and images can be easily be captured and shared on various platforms. The OHP could not do this

For the Jupiter Stand to work, you need a device connected in some manner to a projector.

I use an iPad connected via AirServer to my laptop computer and then run a VGA cable to a ceiling mounted projector. (The iPad transmits wireless signals to the computer then to the projector.) I also have a portable system which incorporates a router connected to an Apple TV device which is then connected to a projector. This also works very well.

When setup, it can be a very effective tool in the classroom or teaching/learning space.
